Stayed around 1/20" as shutter speed for most of the day and was changing aperture. Got about 10 5/5 shots out of the 2552 pictures. Still trying to figure how I want to edit some. I have others with a fast shutter speed but those are easier to do. I want to improve.

My first IMSA Race!

Definitely learned a lot while taking photos. Obviously, I have been working on panning shots. If you have some advice, let me know! :)

Biggest lessons:

1) For the panning shots, I have to use manual focus more often. In too many shots, the auto focus keeps searching or just misses the car. I need to sit in manually focus a spot on track and precisely shoot that shot. I think I was too busy getting some of everything.

2) Throughout the day I wanted to achieve a shutter of 1/5 but the lowest I successfully got was 1/8. Close but not it. One thing I should have changed was the custom Autofocus setting to have a locked on subject instead of making it responsive. I had the acceleration/deceleration and point auto switching high but the tracking sensitivity was too much. I believe that would help more with panning. Also in my head I knew panning with a short focal length would be easier. Practice with 300mm was fun 🙃 but we are getting better.

3) Coming in with a plan is a must. While it was helpful getting practice with panning and finding good compositions, if I had come in with a more solidified plan, I would be okay. I needed a strategy for who to cover and when. I needed a strategy for when to take different types of shots. Regardless, I do this because I love cars, motorsports, photography, and learning. I definitely remember sitting at turn 2 watching in awe.

4) I need to clean my sensor. I will post my mistakes but after this I'll edit out the spots. I'm planning to post some of my worst shots later.

5) Having buddies who have been to the track is always a plus. Thanks @pghsupercars for the help and map. Dudes a fuckin beast. Also helped talkin to @benborv.jpg and @pierreg.14 for a bit.

In the comments by all means point out everything that's wrong in your eye. I want to get better and need criticism and guidance.

I made this page so I can continue learning new tricks, programs, and techniques and documents my progress. I'm new to premiere pro and after effects. I just got down the mobilization tracking down earlier which I want to use soon. The plan I want to do is to return to this video at some point in time and edit the raw footage again. I know this reel isn't up to my standards, but I'm placing a standard on myself before I know what I can or cannot do. Publish good stuff and shit. 220 posts ago, I had 0 editing skills, minimal photography skills, 0 videography skills and here I am with some skill. I want to learn. Please help me.

At this meet, this was the first time I used a gimbal. I just got the vertical plate so I don't have to make horizontal videos and can keep it upright. I'll be looking into composition, how to plan a shoot, and determining when I do or don't need a gimbal. I feel a little lost, but I like it since this is where thrive.

These were taken at the @kaidoevents and @route_stars meets. I won't tag them since I'm not happy with this product.

So glad to have a computer that can run photo edit software and gaming. Been using this for research and running code and it takes considerably less time. Took a couple hours on my laptop compared to 10-15 minutes on this behemoth.

Was practicing slowing down the shutter and decided to go as slow as I could. Not the slowest but got the results I was looking for. Slowest I could go was 1s but at that point the cars would enter and leave the frame. I think the best shutter would be around 1/2s but still practicing my panning.
